ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 11th OCTOBER 2022

MINUTES OF THE MEETING (Draft)

1. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE – There were 12 apologies for absence, the names are available if requested

2. MINUTES OF MEETING 6th OCTOBER 2021

Received & accepted with thanks to Secretary.

3. SECRETARY'S REPORT Copies e-mailed prior to the meeting.

The secretary stated that the venues for 2023 are almost complete, these will be posted on the website very soon.

The secretary recorded his special thanks to a number of members and in particular to Barry Heaps, with whom he had worked so closely throughout his period in Office. Report was accepted with thanks to the Secretary.

4. TREASURER'S REPORT

Copies emailed prior to the meeting of both the 2021 Audited accounts and the 2022 interim accounts.

Brief comments from the Treasurer Barry Heaps explained that our financial position was still a very healthy one. The Treasurer confirmed that annual subscriptions will remain at the same level of £11 for 2023.

The report was accepted with special thanks to the Treasurer, and Auditor for all the unseen work that they do for the Society.

5. APPOINTMENT OF CAPTAIN & VICE-CAPTAIN FOR THE YEAR 2023

Nominated Captain – Dave Arrowsmith - approved for 2023

Nominated Vice Captain, Tony Durkin approved for 2023.

Proposed: Graham Fifoot, Seconded Dave Asprey

6. ELECTION OF SECRETARY, TREASURER, ASSISTANT SECRETARY and AUDITOR FOR 2022/2023

Nominations: Secretary David Owen Proposed Stan Hopley, Seconded Olive Watson

Treasurer Barry Heaps, Proposed Graham Fifoot, Seconded Tony Durkin

Auditor Alan White, Proposed Graham Fifoot, Seconded Allan Simon.

All nominations were approved, with thanks for all of the work done this year to everyone.

7. NATTRASS TROPHY.

After some discussion regarding the demise of the competition it was decided to try to incorporate the trophy into the Captains Day, suggestions were that a team competition takes place on the day run in parallel with the Captains Cup. David Owen would look into the options available.

8. CCOGS HOLIDAY

Steve Brown gave us a summary of the issues that had arisen in organising this year’s holiday and that there were some members preferring to go back to Nefyn for next year’s holiday.

Steve will circulate all members with options for the 2023 holiday and to establish if there is enough interest to organise another holiday.

9. AoB.

Ian Ramsay advised the members that Jonny Williams who had been treasurer of CCOGS for 21 years had recently passed away. Jonny’s ashes will be scattered at Blacon crematorium on 28th October should any members wish to attend the ceremony.

10. MEETING CLOSED

Before the meeting closed the captain made a short speech thanking the secretary for his efforts and organisation during his 5 year term of office. The captain also presented the secretary with a bottle of his favourite champagne (Tattinger) as a token of the societies appreciation of his work.

The secretary stated that the generous gift was unexpected and that he would continue to provide his support to its officers in order to ensure the continued success of CCOGS
