WAY TO GO
It is worthy of note that Ken Mullineux, a single figure golfer,
had not played serious golf for a couple of years, but on the occasion
of the Captain's Trophy in the 40th year, decided to give it one more
go. Everyone was delighted when Ken achieved his hole-in-one.
Regrettably his bad back did not allow him to complete the full round
and at that point he decided to end his golfing career.
What a wonderful note to go out on.
INDIVIDUAL RECORD SCORES
One fact which is been forwarded to me is that John Mason
holds the unique record of both the Highest and Lowest scores
achieved in a CCOGS event.
His Highest Score was 46 points and his Lowest 1 point
- slight inconsistency there !
The 46 points result has recently been equalled by
David Lloyd
in winning Captain's Day 2008 at Chester Golf Club.
Even these scores were exceeded by Olive Watson on
Captain's Day 2022 when she scored 49 pts at Helsby G.C.

MATCH RECORDS
In matches against North Wirral Golf Society there have been
many outstanding scores.
However, the highest was at Mold in 2006, when CCOGS
scored a total of 269,
with individual pairs scoring 50, 49, 49, 45, 38, 38.
The North Wirral pair of Peter Lowrey & Gavin Evans scored
49 Points to half with Stan Hopley & Alan White in the final game.
Earlier Geoff Washburn & Robin Browne had also scored 49 points,
but were out done by Eric Hadfield and Dave Asprey with 50 points.
To my knowledge this is only the second time that a half century
has been reached, the first being by Bob Ashcroft & Robin Browne
with 50 points at Padeswood & Buckley in 1998.

NEFYN RECORDS
Under normal circumstances a score of high 60's or 70's will be
the winning score over the two days of the Nefyn holiday.
However, in 2011, admittedly in good weather, two CCOGS
golfers achieved remarkable scores.
David Owen
scored 43 points at Pwllheli whilst Jon Hume
scored 39 pnts. At Nefyn the roles were reversed with
Jon scoring 41 points and David had 39 points.
Thus David took the Tony Parsons Trophy with 82 points to
Jon's 80 pnts
.
But they both played exceptional golf over the two days
- a feat unlikely to be equalled.
